General Information

Conference Location
The campus of Butler University is nestled in the Butler-Tarkington neighborhood of Indianapolis, five miles from downtown Indianapolis. Butler has a formal botanical garden, a nature preserve, playing fields, well-established residential communities and the White River. The small campus allows for visitors to quickly get to dining facilities, residence facilities, and conference rooms. Coffee-lovers will be excited to know that the first Starbucks in Indiana was put in at Butler. It will be open for summer hours during the conference.

Lodging & Meals
Conference participants may choose to stay on campus in single or double-occupancy rooms with shared bath for every two rooms. Resco has Internet access and air-conditioning in every room. Each participant is provided:

  • 1 thermal blanket
  • 1 pillow
  • 2 flat sheets
  • 1 pillowcase
  • 1 mattress pad
  • 1 bath towel
  • 1 hand towel

All meals will be provided (vegetarian/vegan options always available). Participants are encouraged to stay on-site to take advantage of after-hours networking, but commuter registration, including meals, is also available for local participants.

If you are commuting, please know there is no parking fee.

If you do not plan to stay on campus, you will be responsible for finding your own lodging. If you are visiting from out of town, click here for hotels near Butler.

Transportation
Taxi from the airport: for your convenience, there are two curbside taxi-stands on the lower-level terminal drive. Look for the overhead signs, then push the taxi "call button" and wait for your driver. Simply ask them to take you to Butler University.

  • Minimum fares: As of January 1, 2008, there is a $15 minimum charge for all fares from the airport, regardless of distance.
  • Tipping is allowed.

Taxi to the airport: There are numerous taxi/cab companies in Indianapolis.
